What's the purpose of user 'clientadmin'

Hi,

we're using Aras Innovator 14 Reelase 33. There is one account active: clientadmin. We don't know what's the purpose of this account?

  1. For what it is used?
  2. Is it a security issue?
  3. Can the account be deactivated?

    Hello!

I took a very quick look into this.

    1. The account is used for some very core innovator functionality. It is similar to the vault admin as a system account which is not intended to be logged into manually, but is used by the system.
    2. It is not a security issue. This account exists on every modern instance of Aras Innovator.
    3. The account cannot be deactivated without causing issues in the platform.

Let me know if you have additional questions!

      Hi AJ,

      thanks for your replies.

If the account is not intedend to log in manually, can we disable the flag "Logon Enabled"? Or will then the working of Innovator be harmed?

Can you explain a little bit more, for what the account is needed? (Maybe write a PM or mail to me).

  • Interesting discussion! Are there any plans to exclude these system accounts from the license count on a technical level?

Example: In the past, we could have a 100-user subscription, and Aras accepted a small overhead (like 105 users) due to system accounts. Does this still work in R37?

Hi Angela, I believe the updated licensing behavior in R37 only checks for a valid, unexpired license - not user count. I'm confirming with the PM team to be sure.

And regarding the 50-user limit in the community edition, I've passed along the suggestion to exclude the system accounts from the user count in the next community release. 😉
