CAD documents management without connector
Hi, we have done an Aras installation for demo/ test purposes. So we have the free downloaded version, no connectors. On the side of regular documents, parts, BOM etc. everything goes well. Where I get stuck is uploading/ managing CAD (Inventor) files. The question “can you manage CAD files and relationships without a CAD connector” has come up several times (1), but I have not found a clear answer. Aras states many times that it can manage/ vault any kind of file with or without a connector but a clear, concise tutorial is needed! The main question is: Without a CAD connector, do I upload the CAD files in “documents” or in “CAD documents” (“CAD documents are mainly used by CAD integrations. It was set by Aras to standardize the way CAD integrations were made.”). Either way, can you give a step-by-step instruction? If CAD models must be uploaded in “CAD documents” it is not clear what the relationship is between the “native file”/ “viewable file” fields and the “files” tab (lower part of the screen, where files are uploaded). PDM Pro Connector Compatibility with Innovator 14+
Does anyone currently use the PDM Pro Connector? We are in the middle of a migration to Innovator version 15. We want to integrate with our SolidWorks PDM system to manage the native files, register parts, and have workflow approvals driven from PLM. We tried installing the connector and the installer fails with an “incompatible version”, Aras support indicated PDM Cad Connector 12.0R4 is not compatible and no version of PDM connector is compatible. Just curious to see if anyone else has the PDM Pro Connector in their implementation. Thanks, Jake
How to check if a floating license(xPlm CadConnector) is in use or not?
We have 5 floating licenses of xPlmCad connector. Sometimes, the license is not released when the user logs out. We were given a new key to use and we want to try it out. How\Where do I check to see if the floating license is in use? It would be great if we can see the users using the license. We will be deploying ArasInnovator PLM shortly; we need the Inventor connector to be installed. I couldn't find any information on Aras's website and searching the web didn't reveal any helpful results. So, how do I go about installing the Inventor connector on 10-15 stations?
