I would guess that there is a C# method and/or a SQL Procedure that would update the View. That is just a guess. I will also check this out.
I also an not sure that a List is used any longer. I am using Release 22 and I could not find, via SQL queries, a List that supports the xClass PolyItems. I looked through all data in the Values Itemtype.

The Oracle function I think you would have to modify is [DBName].Programmability.functions.Table-value Functions.[PolyItemtype Name].
again I used the PolyItemtype xClassificableItem_xClass to identify the pattern. I don't see how that function is altered but it is.
