I have never tried to switch the data source of a control (which is what I think you are asking) so I'm not sure if it is possible. Here are some alternative approaches to your problem.
- Create a multi select list box for each itemtype. Write client side method hooked to the on change event of the itemtype field. The method will hide all of the list boxes except the list box related to the selected itemtype.
- Write client side method hooked to the on change event of the itemtype field. The method will dynamically populate the appropriate list values in the list box.
- Create a filtered list that is the complete list of all values for all itemtypes and filter the list based on the itemtype property
