your question is a bit hard to understand, but I think I can follow your question.
You update your related item via Method. This way you use update/edit. This one already locks/unlocks the item for a short amount of time.
Do you want to lock the parent item while the edit of the related document occurs?

Thanks for the Reply, I am simply wondering if there is an ideal way to handle Item lock/Unlock status when editing them via Methods.(Specifically when it is already being claimed by a User).
