form: get field value

Question

hi,

I am trying to read the contents of a text field in a new form in the form onload event
i try with

var Order = document.item;
var FirstName = top.aras.getItemProperty (Order, "first_name");

but without success

Any ideas?

You can find this example from the form of express ECO, you can use the same rationale to achieve that you would want to!
var itemStateValue = document.thisItem.getProperty("state","--");
var info = window.getItemStateInnerHTML(itemStateValue);
document.getElementById("ITEM_STATE_INTERNAL_SPAN").innerHTML = info;
return;

But in my javascript method I have this exception: TypeError: window.getItemStateInnerHTML is not a function

What is the problem now?

Check this method in the system PE_ShowCreateNewRevButton you will have your answer!!
