Form "Unused Properties"

I have an ItemType called Zed that has several properties that do not have Data Sources, yet when adding to the form via "Unused properties", the Data Source is populated, cannot be removed.  Warning message stating Data Source is required.

Note: Both fields are Required Fields, both are text fields

Example:

Name = name

Label =  Name

Data Type = String

================

Name = item_number

Label = Zad Drawing Number

Data Type = String (will be Alphanumeric) 

Any suggestions??
