Changes to Aras Innovator licensing in Release 37 – your thoughts?
I was checking out the updates in Aras Innovator Release 37 (https://community.aras.com/blog/labs/whats-new-in-release-37/16536) and noticed some changes around license handling. Admins now have better visibility and control, which is definitely a positive step.
However, it looks like regular users lose complete access once a subscription expires! Previously, you could still log in and use basic features even if the subscription lapsed. That aspect now seems to be gone! In addition the Open Release no longer works as a practical fallback either, which means any free usage without subscription has essentially ended.
Is Aras “use it freely, subscribe when you need updates and support” approach now officially eliminated, or am I overreacting? Curious to hear how others are experiencing it!
Positive aspects about I37:
- Relationship Tab Content Indicators
- xProperties Float and package tool are useful
- Aras Labs listened to community and now publishes "release news" in a format similar to Aras Japan. They also didn´t hide the license aspect.

Hi Angela, this update just aligns the platform behavior with the licensing agreement terms, and it only affects on-prem subscribers using release Aras Innovator R37 and newer (not community edition or SaaS). They'll receive reminders well in advance of their license expiration, there's a grace period baked in to minimize disruptions to operations, and admins will retain access even if the grace period lapses. If anyone has questions or concerns, I encourage them to reach out to their account manager.
