The newest release of Aras Innovator is now available, so I thought I’d take some time to quickly highlight the key enhancements from the previous version. Release 37 includes several long-awaited features, along with quality of life improvements for both users and administrators.
Licensing improvements
Release 37 introduces several improvements to license management within Aras Innovator, giving administrators clearer visibility and better control over their licenses. The previous system didn’t provide sufficient alerts the admin when a primary feature license was expiring, so we took steps to remedy this.
In addition to the dashboard above, there are also new automated steps to handle the license expirations. These include user notifications and safeguards that ensure admins can still access the system after a license has expired. This allows them to renew or update licenses without disrupting maintenance operations. The example below shows the message an admin user sees once the grace period expires. The admin is still able to log in and update the licenses manually.
Relationship Tab Content Indicators
Another new feature of this release is a quick UI update to show which relationship tabs contain data. Previously, you had to open up a relationship tab to determine if any of the relationships existed. With the new UI, you can quickly look at your relationships and understand exactly what exists.
xProperties Float Behavior
xProperties are being improved! xProps for the “Item” data type are being enhanced to support configurable float behavior. This brings them in line with other relationships and item properties, allowing them to always “float” to the latest release. Similar to how this is configured in relationships, you’ll have options to best fit your needs. The options are:
- Automatic Floating – All existing versions of referencing Items automatically float to the latest version, matching standard Item property behavior.
- Configurable Behavior – Administrators can define whether xProperties should float or remain fixed, providing flexibility similar to standard Item properties.
