Event Showcases PLM in the Auto Industry

The Aras team, including those of us based in the Aras Detroit office, looks forward to attending next week’s annual CIMdata conference which puts the focus on product lifecycle management (PLM) in today’s rapidly changing automotive industry.

CIMdata’s “PLM Road MapTm 2016 for the Global Automotive Industry and their Supply Chain Partners” takes place Thursday, November 3, 2016 in the Detroit area, and offers the well-timed theme of “The Changing Face of PLM in the Automotive Industry.” The focus is especially appropriate for today’s global automotive enterprise facing rapidly increasing product complexity as software, advances in electrification and connectivity become integral to innovation.

CIMdata hosts the annual event to provide independent education and a collaborative networking environment where ideas, trends, experiences, and relationships critical to the automotive industry germinate and take root. Topics, including sessions led by Aras, will be of interest to OEMs and suppliers.

Thinking about PLM in the Auto Industry

Why think about the changing face of PLM in the auto industry? As Aras works with automotive suppliers and OEMs around the world, what’s common is the pressure product teams face to deliver technology-driven products with globally dispersed teams and increasingly tight cycle times.

With the automotive industry trend toward smart, connected products comes a shift in the way product compliance, configuration management, and design validation is achieved. Aras considers this a transformation of the business of engineering, and will expand upon this idea during the Aras presentation.

To help create tomorrow’s new products, product teams seek the next generation of PLM in the auto industry to adapt to this changing environment and efficiently manage enterprise bill of materials (BOM), supply chain processes, embedded software, quality, and more, from the conceptual design phase and out into the field.

We look forward to addressing these concepts at next week’s event, and hope to see you there.
