Enterprise Search on multiple DB?

Hello,

i have the challenge to build one single testserver with several 12.0 SP11 environments, containing the (standard) InnovatorSolutions, InnovatorDev, InnovatorTrain and InnovatorDemo databases.

On this single Innovator Server the EnterpriseSearch should be made available in all of these databases.

How could this be established?

I've tried so far in this way:

- build a clean 12.0 SP11 setup for InnovatorSolutions DB, then made a backup and restored this DB as InnovatorDemo

- then installed ES Index + ZooKeeper services for InnovatorDemo (as prerequisite of Partner Demo env Setup), afterwards installed Partner Demo Env 12.0 SP11 to InnovatorDemo + Enterprise Search -> result: InnovatorDemo with Enterprise Search works as exptected!

- now checked Enterprise Search Installation Guide and installed in addition ES Agent + FileProcessor Services for InnovatorSolutions DB, in order to get EnterpriseSearch work in this DB too, setup completed successfully

Now comes my problem: the ES crawlers in both DB's InnovatorSolutions and InnovatorDemo indexed all items/files without errors, so far so good, but when i do a query, i get only search results in one DB, not in both at the same time?!

In detail:

- if i start ES Agent Services für InnovatorDemo at a server reboot only, then ES search results are ok in InnovatorDemo

- if i start ES Agent Services für InnovatorSolutions at a server reboot only, then ES search results are ok in InnovatorSolutions

- but if i have all services up, only one of both DB's show search results, the other DB shows 0 findings

It seems that ES ( Solr and/or Zookeeper) cannot get both Indexes run at the same time, although if only starting the ES Agent for one DB after a reboot, the index works.

Does anyone out there has an idea how to get this ES challenge solved on one single server?

At the moment i have installed ES Index in the standard ES folder and for ES Agents and FileProcessors a folder for each DB

The Solr and Zookeeper have 1 node, the Solr has 2 queues, that seems to be ok

Is it possible to get ES built on one single server for multiple db's so that search results are available simultaneously in all environments?

What is the technical sticking point here, ZooKeeper? Solr?

I am wondering about the ES Installation Guide describing that it should be possible to get it run for multiple DB's in one Innovator Instance by installing ES Agent & FileProcessor for each DB, but usually Solr/Zookeeper are not running on the same server, is this the problem?

Also wondering about the need to enter the DBname at the ES Index Setup, although i need only one index for one Innovator instance where i run multiple DB's?

Or do i need to build multiple ES installations in user-defined ES program directories for each DB? To separate ES Index, ZooKeeper for each DB? But that would be some overload on a single server having multiple Solr servers run?!

Hope someone out there could help me out?

Component Engineering Overview and Installation

The next installment of our Application Overview series is Component Engineering (CE) within Aras Innovator. CE ensures users have full management and tracking of Manufacturer Parts, including the ease of selection and swapping of components.

CE within Aras Innovator simplifies electronic component selection by allowing Engineers and Procurement Specialists instant access to current technical data statuses on hundreds of millions of parts. This includes components down to the board-level from leading manufacturers around the world.

Using IHS marketplace, CE allows the responsible engineer/specialist to ensure purchased components meet specifications, identify comparable alternate parts, and ensure obsoleted parts are replaced in timely manner without disruption. All specifications from the millions of parts indexed by IHS can be easily accessed within Innovator and even point users to in depth specifications with any of the Manufacturer Parts websites. Please also note that in order to use CE an extra feature license is required!

Overview:

Within Aras Innovator, IHS can easily be accessed by going to the TOC > Sourcing > Cloud Manufacturer Parts. Here we will see the following:

This allows us to search any parts that are contained within the IHS database either through the use of filters to narrow results or by part number/keywords.

Run a search with Optoelectronics - other optoelectronics and rohm compliant - yes then run a search. Here we can compare part variants (by selecting the ) and even add parts to your Aras Innovator instance:

Close the compare dialog and double click any of the parts in the search list. This will open up the Aras Innovator Part Form and will show an Add button. After selecting add part Aras Innovator will open the part and add it to your database.

Now lets go back to the TOC > Sourcing > Manufacturer Parts and search for MCL-N6WT-B-NW-P (this part is an example from Aras Innovator 12 SP11 Demo Environment). Open this part, we can see a property on the form for data sheets. Clicking the link brings us directly to the sheet for viewing purposes:

Installation:

In order to setup Component Engineering for your Aras Innovator instance you will need to activate the feature license, in order to do this log into your Aras Innovator instance and click the User Menu icon. Then within the dropdown select Activate Feature, a popup dialog will appear allowing you to input your license.

Next we will need to download the latest Aras Update release. Once that download has complete you, go ahead and open the application, you will see a list of applications we can download and install. For this blog I am going to download CE 12R3, the latest release of Component Engineering. Once the package is downloaded locally hit install and you’ll be prompted for some information on your Instance.

After filling in the correct information, press install and within a few minutes you should receive a successful result message. You can then log into your instance of Aras Innovator and utilize the new functionality. In order to verify the application is installed all you need to do is open up the TOC and there should be a new section called Sourcing which will contain the Manufacturer Part ItemType. Should look like this:

Howto upgrade Enterprise Search?

Hi,

on my Innovator 12.0 SP9 testserver i've managed to install and configure Enterprise Search 12.0 SP9, so far so good, works like a charm.

Now i need to to upgrade to 12.0 SP10.

Innovator upgrade process of SP9 to SP10 did work as expected, but afterwards none of the Enterprise Search services run anymore,

when started, they immediately shutdown, output in the service.log:

Error     A.E.F.A.AppServiceBase.CheckProductVersionCompatibility: It's impossible to start the Enterprise Search version 12.0 SP9 on the Aras Innovator version 12.0 SP10.
Log       A.E.F.A.AppServiceBase.StopService: Service stopped.

Has anyone an idea how to get Enterprise Search working again after an upgrade from SPx to SPy?

What's the easiest procedure to achieve this?

Import package 'com.aras.innovator.solution.QMS' failed

Hello,

i have installed 12.0 SP7 and now trying to setup all applications.

Since the automatic installation using actual Aras Update utility is not working to setup any application (error ‘incompatible version of Innovator’), I use the manual method with Import tool of 12.0SP7.

After clean installation, I’ve successfully added newest PDF Viewer Package and Office Connector, both do work as expected.
Now I am working on the imports, I did it successfully in this sequence until I reach QMS package which fails:

PE 12.0R2 (completed)
PM 12.0R1 (completed)
RE 12.0R2 (completed)
CE 12.0R2 (completed)
TD 12.0R1 (completed)
QMS 12.0R1 -> here I run in an error, the import of ‘com.aras.innovator.solution.QMS ‘ failed at stage “Item 26 of 26: cmf_ContentType – Process Quality Document”, please check the abstract of the log as attached in QMS_Import_Error.log file, in line 929 the request fails (there is no document record of type PQD in my InnovatorSolutions DB).

Does anyone of you know how to resolve this issue, because my goal is to setup a complete Aras Innovator 12.0SP7 instance with all applications, now I stuck here, but need to setup the final 2 apps MPP, PQB. For both the QMS must be installed as requirement correctly, otherwise I am not able to continue.
