How to query Content Property in Technical Documentation

Hi Team,

Could you please explain how we can query 'Content' property in tp_Block itemtype.

As per my knowledge, all root and node elements along with id's will be wrapped up inside Content property/column in tp_Block table. If I have to find/fetch any id of certain elements like Title/Subtitle/Graphic, is there any way to achieve through Custom code? or should we have to write any SQL query in custom method.

Tech Doc : CSS Code to be debugged/validated

Hi Team,

In Technical documentation module, we usually add CSS Stylesheet under Document Schema. Is there any way to debug CSS code attached using 3rd party tool.

We have Validate Button for Document Schema which will validate our schema, similarly if we have to validate or debug CSS code, any option available?

Different Sequence Number for different Classification

Hi Team,

I have a scenario where in I need to generate different document sequence number - for Document Number field based on classification.

Ex : Class structure - Subtype - Class A - AXXX0001, Subtype - Class B - BXXX0001, Subtype - Class C - CXXX0001 - All these classification have different form configured and each form has Document Number field. Accordingly created respective custom properties with datatype - sequence and added datasource.

Is it possible to achieve generating sequence number without custom code? Kindly suggest. I am facing issue with configuration - while saving document, it shows all sequence numbers concatenated at header as 'Keyed_Name' which is not valid.

I am able to generate different sequence number based on classification by custom code added under server events - OnBeforeAdd.

Tech Doc : Rearrange content inside the Tech Doc Editor

Is it possible to rearrange the content inside the Tech Doc Editor in the left side TOC panel.

If I have wrongly inserted content and wanted to rearrange the position, can it be achieved using custom method or configuration?

Tech Doc : Content Traceability in Editor window

Hi Team,

In Tech Doc UI Editor, can we display the object name of the content i.e Content/Document Number along with description in the left side panel of Tech Doc Editor to provide some traceability to the source of the chapter (Ex: Chapter: Cnt-1000001 - Introduction). Please refer attached screenshots.

Is there any way to accomplish this either by Customization or Configuration?

Automatically update PDF CSS based on "Doc IP classification" filter condition selection

Hi Team,

Is it possible to automatically update PDF CSS based on "Doc IP classification" filter condition selection (added filter based on customer requirement) - Public & Confidential

To reflect in footer & copyrights page of published technical doc. Currently it has to be updated manually in PDF CSS before publishing the technical document

it should be dynamic based on dropdown filter list - "Doc IP classification" filter condition.

For now we need to create duplicate schema and only PDF CSS needs to be changed everytime. Can we do it dynamically with custom code or configuration?

Tech Doc : Search window - "Latest Released", "All Released Docs" & "Current revision docs"

Hi Team,

In the Technical document Search window, need to see "Latest Released", "All Released Docs" & "Current revision docs".

Currently there is no way to see previous released revision by using drop-down function “Current, Latest, Released, Effective as all of them works in relation to date field.

Can anyone explain how these functionalities are working and how to see "Latest Released", "All Released Docs" & "Current revision docs"?

Tech Doc : Print Filename instead of ID after Publishing document

Hi Team,

When we are trying to publish technical document in PDF format, after publishing it generates document and gets downloaded. Please find the attached screenshots

We have noticed that instead of Filename, it is having ID. Is it possible to change naming convention i.e instead of ID, can I publish tech doc with tech doc name as file name?

Any customizations required? or should we have to change existing code methods? Kindly suggest.

Tech Doc : Saved Search functionality and applied filter conditions

Hi Team,

In ARAS, all sort of actions are saved under Saved Search in TOC. But when we apply filter conditions in editor window and save tech doc, on opening Document view and Publish dialog box, those actions are not reported in Saved Search.

Any reason behind? Do we need to check in some other place? How can we retain applied filter condition.

Hi Team.

We have a scenario where in we need to retain all applied filter condition in document view and publish dialog box on saving of technical document.

For now, when we save it and close item, on re-opening, we are losing all applied filter condition in Document View dialog and Publish Document dialog box.

Is it possible to retrieve all applied filter condition using custom code? or can it be configured?

Disable Edit button

How can I disable Edit button in toolbar once document state reaches to Released? Is it possible to control it using permissions or do we need to write any custom method - OnFormPopulated event.

Restricting Graphics based on state

Hi Team,

Need a quick help in ARAS Technical documentation module. I have a scenario where I have developed my Document Type (XML Schema) and added required root and node elements which includes Graphics.

Now I will be able to add root, node elements in my Tree Editor. When I have to add Graphics, I need to restrict it based on state. If image is in obsolete state, then there should be some error msg shown to user and it should not allow to add in Editor. If I add image which is In Work or Released state, it should allow me to add Graphic in Editor window.

Is there any way to achieve this functionality? Should we have to create any custom method?

Please help.

ARAS Technical Documentation - tp_stylesheet lifecycle

Hi Team,

Need help in triggering lifecycle for tp_stylesheet(CSS) in ARAS Tech doc module.

I have a scenario where we need to maintain version control for tp_XMLSchema(Document Type) and tp_Stylesheet(CSS) to keep track of all changes and release them.

Itemtype - tp_XMLSchema - Not Versionable

Relationship Type - tp_Stylesheet - Not Versionable

I have created customized lifecycle for tp_XMLSchema and able to trigger it since it has been configured under Lifecycle in tp_Block itemtype. Also I have created customized lifecycle for tp_Stylesheet and configured under itemtype, but since it is relationship type for tp_XMLSchema, I am unable to trigger lifecycle.

Is there any way to achieve this? Kindly help
