Aras 32 and lab_styleform / custom-form-css

Hello,

We are upgrading Aras from 12SP09 to Aras32 and some our forms are using https://github.com/ArasLabs/custom-form-css lab_Styleform javascript. I can see there hasn't been any updates in GitHub in 6 years.

And the forms are looking a little bit funny. But the main question is that is there better way to modify the css than this custom-form-css in Aras version 32? Should we ditch the old way and start using something better now in a new version? And what that new way of doing that would be? Any hint/advice?

Can I customize Tree Grid View input XML

Hello,

Question about Tree Grid View/method functionality. I'm are creating some kind of tree (for example Part BOM) & data comparison tool. I'm utilizing Query builder and I have 2 different query results in my method at hand.

And now we are planning how to visualize the comparison results to the user. One idea was to utilize Tree Grid View which would fit well in our plans in many levels, but is it customizable enough is the big question.

Can I somehow feed or get TGV to read my results? Can I somehow use CSS or modify how TGV could show the results (for example I want to use colors to show the differences between structures & data)?

Or is it so the TGV always need's direct results from Query Builder? And the XML it's eating cannot be changed - or are they way to modify it?

Or are there any other ways to do it? I believe this is not unique problem.

I'm using query builder similarly like in: https://community.aras.com/b/english/posts/using-query-definitions-method-code. And I'm utilizing Form Dialogues currently to ask from user what to compare.

Installing Aras without windows server or IIS server for student

Im needing to play around on Aras PLM for my masters thesis but i dont have access to windows server or an IIS server is there a way to install Aras without these? maybe some sort of free to use virtual machine?

Vaults to a different server folders

Hi,

Is it possible to configure different server folders to use different vaults. Example, I want to have 2 vaults: 1) Public images 2) Internal images. And then define some users to use 'Public images' vault and some users 'Internal images'. And when images are uploaded Public images (vault) would go C:\Aras\Public and Internal -> C:\Aras\Internal. Now it seems the files are going under same vault folder (even if I use different vaults).

Any insight on that anyone?

Removing 'Purge' from menu for specific ItemType

Is it possible to remove/hide a menu 'item' e.g 'Purge' from the 'Main Window Main Menu' for a specific ItemType. Seems like you can do this for the 'Tearoff Window Main Menu' by adding a init method to the com.aras.innovator.cui_default.twmm_purge 'Menu Button'. The method i adds looks like this ----- var aWindow = top.aras.getMainWindow() == window.top ? top.aras.getMainWindow() : window; var workerFrame = aWindow.work; if (workerFrame.itemTypeName === 'myItemType' || workerFrame.itemTypeName === 'myOtherItemType') { return {'cui_invisible': true}; } ------ If i try to do the same thing for the com.aras.innovator.cui_default.mwmm_purge menu Button the results seems to be a bit weird (works for 'myItemType' but not for 'myOtherItemType'???). I assume the difference lies in when the init method is run for the different menues ?? Any suggestions ? /regards Johan R.

Performance testing tools with Aras

Hello all,

We are planning to import certain amount of data to Aras and we have created some functionalities (methods) related to that. And we would like to make some performance testing after importing the data to see that our functions/methods are able to perform.

Any advice which tools would be good? We would need to record some use/test cases (make searches through UI, and test some other functions also as a users do) - but of course we would like to simulate the user behavior.

Do anyone know which tools works with Aras UI and which doesn't? Any hints and tips are appreciated.

I'm not performance test expert in any meaning but I have some experience on Apache jMeter from previous projects.

We are utilizing Aras12 (SP9).

User notification from server methods

Hi,

I'm creating server method and populating a new Part structure (+ doing other thing in an method). And last thing from method I would like to send 'on screen ' summary/notification what happened to the user (like inn.newError("Hi, this is what happened")). But as an 'Info' not an _error_.

Is there a nice way to send information from server methods to users?

MPP - EBOM / MBOM Grid views

Hi all,

My customer is utilizing MPP in Aras - and they would like to remove the 'Name' column from MBOM and EBOM grid views (in Process Plan) since they are not utilizing it and it just takes room in the grid.

I have tried to play with ItemType (Part, mpp_PartConfig) property hidden values, tried to find good place from mpp javascripts (PartConfig.js or BOMGridCommons.js, …), and some other places (documentation) but no success.

Any advice how to do that proper way or causing minimal damage.

I was kind of hoping that MPP would have utilized the Tree Grid Views (and those could been just edited).

Office Connector and Windows authentication

Hi, We have Aras + Office connector installed. Office Connector worked ok until we turned Windows Authentication/Single Sign On to the server. Windows Authentication works ok for normal Aras login, but when Office connector is contacting Aras - it doesn't allow users in. Office connector is still asking password (and it is able to read the Database list - so it has connection to the server), but it doesn't let users in (gives 'Authentication failed for [username]'. I have gone though Office Connector manuals & Windows authentication manuals - but couldn't find any reference to this situation. Should it work in the first place? Any hints how to start resolving this issue? Cheers, Jukka.

Enterprise Search problem: Unable to connect

Hi all, I'm quite new to Aras - installing it second time and this time around I'm installing it to the 2 servers so that the Enterprise search services are located in a another server. Briefly my configuration: App server:

IIS with Aras Innovator
SQL Express

Searchserver: Solr, ES Agent & services Services:

ES Agent
ES File Processor
Indexer
ES Zookeeper

I was trying to follow the installation guide. And everything seems quite ok:

Aras basic functions are working properly
Solr is answering nicely: from Search server http://localhost:8983/solr/
In Aras I can see ES Agent Crawlers (from toc/Enterprice search)
- ESFileCrawler, ESItemCrawler, ESPermissionCrawler, ESQueueCrawler, ESSolrCleanerCrawler
- And ESPermissionCrawler has processed some items
Aras ES Agent 11.0, Aras ES File Processon 11.0, Aras ES Index 11.0, Aras ES ZooKeeper 11.0 Services are running in a 'search' server.

So for me this looks like Aras and the search can communicate with each others. Servers should be in same network and powershell/Test-NetConnection tests gives positive results. BUT When I go to Aras TOC/My Innovator/Search/search form and click 'Run search' I'm getting: "Unable to connect to the remote server". Any help on this? How could I try to pinpoint the problem? How does the 'search' information is sent to the Solr? Can I make the search somehow from the searchserver directly (to check search is giving results back / rule in/out the network issues)? Any other tips to check functionalities of the Enterprise Search? Br, Jukka.
