Where do I download the files for the batch loader?

In the past I ran it from the server itself but I don't have access to the server right now.

Can I just download the files and run it from my computer?

I can't seem to find any information, everything seems to assume you already have access to the application.

I'd also be interested in taking a look at the source code, if it is open source

Using Aras to Manage Aras Upgrade Planning, Test Plans, Test Records

I'm in the process to upgrade Aras, and I'm looking at the topic of Test cases and records. There seems to be some decent documentation about how to do this, it seems to be leaning on some external tool for this (looked around but things like TestRail is expensive... It appears to me to be a good use case for Aras to build in. )

Has anybody implemented an Aras Upgrade Planning / Testing Configuration? Any suggestions or potential pitfalls you see with this?

Seems like if the structure was somewhat standardized, we could build a library of tests to share as a community, like this post suggested

The Community Is Moving to a New Platform!

Hey everyone!

We’re excited to announce that our community will soon be moving to a brand new platform! This transition is part of our commitment to continuously improve the experience our community has with Aras. To help with this transition, we have put together an FAQ below and will email members closer to the move with you to help make this a smooth update.

What is new or different in the new community? Why are we making this switch?

Community has long been important to Aras and recently we have been making new investments into it as part of “Build with Aras” and other initiatives. During our review of the community as part of these initiatives, we have determined that it is time to update the experience to make it more cohesive across the different tools that we provide our subscribers, partners, and community edition users. This move is the first part of a comprehensive project with more enhanced experiences coming in the next 12 months.

How will we be notified of the switch?

We will be sending out an email to all community members with login instructions when the new platform is live.

Do I need to create a new account?

We will be migrating over your username and basic information, but everyone will need to reset their password. Instructions on how to do this will be provided when the new platform is live.

Will my information (posts, replies, profile information, and preferences) be moved over?

We will be moving over all of your past posts and replies. We ask that you review and update your profile information and preferences, as different platforms have different settings, and we will not be able to move it all over exactly as it currently is. Also, there will be new badges and rankings on the new platform that will be updated based on your past activity.

Will there be any downtime during the switch?

We do expect that there will be a short time when we will not allow new members to join, and during which current members will not be able to post or reply to others. This short downtime is to ensure that we have everything migrated. We will update this post with more detailed information as it comes closer to the switch.

Who do I contact for help or support? Or to suggest improvements?

For any issues with logging in or if you have any suggestions on how to improve the new experience, please contact communitysupport@aras.com. For everything else, please create a support ticket.

Release 36 Relationship Tab Indicators in Release Notes: First Listed, Then Removed - What is Aras Up To?

Hi community,

We are at a point in the community where Aras cannot do anything without it being noticed. Even when they try to keep things secret, it’s usually already too late!

Either it was an accident, or it was a "planned leak" of new features - similar to how Apple handles the iPhone 😅- done just for the fun of seeing if anyone notices and to generate a bit of marketing buzz.

Has anyone of you studied the lastest release notes? A few weeks ago Release 36 was released. In general it contains:

1. A much more modern version of this one: https://github.com/ArasLabs/my-recent-items
2. A fix for this one: How can I use wildcard filters for dropdowns in grid and for predefined Default Searches?
3. And some other quality of live improvements.

BUT: The first version of the release notes also mentioned this additional feature:

The first idea was discussed years ago in a Github discussion and Eli helped to get the first draft working: https://github.com/ArasLabs/set-tab-color/issues/1

But it seems like the Release 36 were updated last week. The new additional relationship feature was now removed.

All jokes aside, I assume the topic was accidentally listed in the release notes. No big deal - it wasn´t even mentioned on the roadmap. Back then in Innovator 11, it wasn´t possible to implement something like this in a meaningful way in the standard product. I didn’t even expect it to show up anytime soon.

But: Is this something that Aras is currently actively working on? I am super curious to see how they´ll solve this on a technical level! This is definitely a feature to look forward to. People will love it!

Does anyone know more?

New community edition (Release 2025)

R35/R2025 toolbar redesign: Simplified Icons + Labels = Usability Nightmare – How can we revert this quickly?

Hi community,

in general I am happy with most of the UI/UX improvements in R35/2025. Many of them are great ideas and we are happy that Aras added them.
BUT: There is one "improvement" that I don´t like and I am searching for options to revert it as fast as possible. I am looking for a solution that I can reuse on every Innovator instance that doesn’t want to follow the new 'simplification' design trend.

Aras has simplified the toolbar CUI buttons, aligning them more closely with the current - but questionable - trend of overly clean design. As a result, the icons have become harder to distinguish. To compensate, labels were added, but they take up a significant amount of space. The situation worsens when using the German or French language pack, where labels are typically 30- 40% longer. In that case, there’s hardly any pixel left for custom elements, often forcing the toolbar to wrap into a second row.

This is a common layout that I use in I12/14:

Many of my ItemTypes have one or two custom buttons in the toolbar. They often use labels so people can easily see that the custom buttons are unique and important for the specific ItemType. In the shown sample I even removed one default element ("Today") to save some space.

Fun detail: Aras now uses the upload icon to represent 'share,' which doesn’t fit the context at all. This is especially confusing when custom buttons next to it actually perform "real" upload actions (like in my image)!

How can we bring back the previous design fast?
- I assume the additional labels can be removed in the language pack?
- Update the icons via AML?

What is your opinion regarding the design update?

HTTP Error 500.19 after installing Innovator 2025 - Solved

I recently installed the Community version of Aras Innovator on a windows 11 24H2 computer. Installation completed with no errors but when trying to browse to //localhost/InnovatorServer/Client I got an HTTP Error 500.10 ( it also referenced the web.config file but there was nothing wrong with it.

The solution was to download and install the MS .Net 8.0 Hosting bundle from

https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet/thank-you/runtime-aspnetcore-8.0.18-windows-hosting-bundle-installer

Once that was done and IIS restarted , the client responded properly.

Future of the Aras Community Forum - Any Insights?

Hi community,

I’ve heard rumors that Aras is planning to move the forum to a different platform or provider.

Does anyone know what changes are actually planned as part of this transition?
For example:

Will the forum remain publicly accessible, or be limited to subscribers only?
Will existing content and links still be available?

From what I’ve seen in Aras blog articles, the forum has become a valuable resource - especially because it’s well indexed by search engines. You can just Google (or use AI...) and find answers to almost anything.

That wouldn’t work anymore if the forum becomes restricted or goes behind a login wall.

If it’s just a technical platform switch and everything else stays the same - great, no problem at all.
But if there are major changes planned, I think the community should know in advance.

If this change does happen in a more disruptive way, I personally might consider switching over to the Reddit r/ArasInnovator forum instead.

I’ve tried to get some insights directly from Aras, but as always... they like to keep things mysterious. Or maybe everyone’s just on summer vacation... 😉

Change the color of column in Bom structure

I want to change the color of the column in the BOM Structure if the state is 'Released.' I tried but was unable to find a solution. Does anyone have an idea of how to do it? I am using version 28.

Hello Experts,

As the title says, we are on Aras 31 and building some custom code in a dll, trying to understand the new way of logging in C# classes

Looking at the release notes here, there is a new way to add logs, the extract from that document

ASP.NET Core native logging mechanism (ILogger and ILoggerFactory) is available in CallContext public object. This mechanism uses server's log configuration and writes server methods logs along with other server's logs. Developers of server methods should use this mechanism for new development. Old public log API in CallContext is depracated with appropriate messages and will be removed in the future

We could not find any documentation on this, the below is the sample we tried but it does not work

CallContext CCO = ((IOMConnection)_inn.getConnection()).CCO;
ILogger _logger = CCO.Logger;
_logger.LogDebug("Print something");

Do we have an example on how this can be configured?
