Aras Update - Error: Authentication failed for root

I am attempting to use Aras Update version 1.15.1211.0 to add applications to Innovator version 12.0 SP9 build 24090. The database has user 'root' and I provide the information as follows:

At this point Update waits for corrected information. Trying other known database users yields the same result. The only option is to Cancel and quit the application.

The detailed log file does not provide any clues to a problem as the software is running as it's supposed to.

Can anyone provide insight on how to revolve this account authentication problem?
