I am evaluating Aras for intermediate storage of PLM data during data exchange. As part of this use case I want to create multiple revisions of the Parts even without releasing the previous one.

I explored Aras documentation and tried various configuration changes but I am not able to achieve this behaviour.

In this regard I have following questions:

1) Why does Aras enforce me to release previous Revision(A) before I can create new Revision (B)? Why cant I have multiple revisions as working revisions?

2) I understand this is OOTB behaviour, is there a way to configure or customize this behavior to suit my needs?

I am using the PackageImportExportUtilities ,export the 9.3 sp0 Workflow map and import to the Aras 11 SP5.

The Workflow map like below

In Aras 11 SP5 I found when I complete task of the a2 along path(return) to a1, the Activity will cloned and add two new record (a1 and a2).

But I found some activity cannot cloned the new record in Activity, why?? and the system will show "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error

how to fix the issue?

yes you should be able.

You need to call google chart from the reports method and make sure you keep it as-is through the xslt.

I haven't tried though.

But you can also make use of .net framework charting library which would allow you to not need the internet connection.

Can you precise the datetime selected (including hours and miuntes) and the one shown?

Aras uses UTC as a neutral datetime. So depending on the moment of the day you set the date, the UTC can be different

You can run a conversion like this :

this.getInnovator().getI18NSessionContext().ConvertFromNeutral(DATE,"yyyy-MM-ddTHH:mm:ss");

Why do you care about the SQL date? it is saved correctly with a neutral date that's it.

Give us a clear example of a datetime selected and how it appears in SQL.

suppose i select date as following

in above picture i select date 10-25-2016 no matter of date format

as 10 -is month

25-is date

as in sql day is 24 (no matter of date format)

When you select the date a time shows up. (I think usually, whatever the date it takes the time (HH:MM:SS) of the actual moment you select the date.)

is save in sql with one day less than selected date

Hi, I am using Aras Innovator for my company and I have come across an issue regarding the life cycles and workflows not updating for items.

I have a Life Cycle Map and Workflow Map defined. I also have a specific ItemType defined that references the Life Cycle Map and Workflow Map. When I create items of that specific ItemType, a workflow and life cycle for that item is created. I can see this when I click on Views tab on the interface of an item.

However when I update the Life Cycle Map and Workflow Map, the previous items' lifecycles and workflows don't update. When I click on Views and select LifeCycle or Workflow, they don't change. Only when I create a new item does it use the new template. However I would like to change the life cycles and workflows of the old items to match the new templates.

Is there a way to do this? I have a few hundred items that need to be updated. Any help is appreciated.

Actually my new viewer (called "DWGviewer") has url equal "./viewers/DWGviewer.html" (in "InnovatorClientscriptsviewers"), but is empty ... How can i relate it with my local viewer ?

I think back in the days viewers were using activex with Internet Explorer. or Java applets.

is there an example of custom recall of external viewer ? I have not Autocad but only a dwg viewer but how can specify the exact path of my viewer program ("C:Program Files.....exe")?

FORM is called: Min_Fielded_PR that comes from the ItemType called: Min_Fielded_PR
WORKFLOW is called: WF99
METHOD within the Workflow is called: MM99

So I created a new Method called " GetControlledItem" and pasted everthing from the site you gave me.

I modifed my Method to this:

Innovator inn=this.getInnovator()

Item hd= inn.newItem("Min_Fielded_PR","get");

Item ControlledItem = this.apply("GetControlledItem");
hd.setID(ControlledItem);
hd.setAttribute("select","item_number,description,resolution");
hd=hd.apply();
return this;

I get error "CS1002, ; expected"

I guess I'm not calling the "GetControlledItem" Method correctly within my Method.

By the way, I think I owe you more than one cheesesteak!!

Fozilla I am not able to see anything in Tabs.I can't even click on other tab.

For IE I am not having this issue.

On fiddler capture I see always on form load

virtualGetForm script results into an error 404 (resource not found)

Did someone face similar error?

Hi Bryan,

The Windows 10 Anniversary Edition update included some changes that blocked .NET controls in IE. This issue has been resolved in Aras 11 SP8. If you are an Aras subscriber, I recommend contacting Aras Support for assistance upgrading to Aras 11 SP8. Otherwise, the Aras Community team can assist you with any questions you may have about upgrading to Aras 11 SP8.

If you are looking for a quick fix, you can also use Firefox 38 ESR or Chrome to login to Aras. The Windows update did not affect file upload functionality in those browsers.
