Hi community,

some may have noticed that the forum was recently updated.
Due to the update, a lot of people were accidentally marked as abusive accounts. This was fixed, but if you´re still affected -> tell Aras!

Did you notice anything else that needs to be repaired?

E.g. I noticed that the search bar on the top has a corrupted stylesheet (white text on white background). So using the search bar is currently a bit painful.

This thread is intended to collect these kind of user feedback. Most of the forum features work as intended from my pov. But if you noticed something not working as usual, either tell Aras or report in this thread and then we send it as collective feedback :).

How can I use wildcard filters for dropdowns in grid and for predefined Default Searches?

Hi community,

the ItemType definition allows us to specify "Default Searches" for certain properties. I want to specify a "Default Search" that excludes a certain dropdown value when user search in a grid. Something like this works fine for regular properties, but not for dropdowns.

In general, dropdowns right not don´t support that user search with wildcards or use other custom search modes (like exclude). Users only can search with distinct values from the dropdown.

I assume this has to do with the type-ahead behavior of dropdowns. But this is a bit strange, cause similar properties like item and classification selectors allow us to use wildcards and type-ahead.

Does anyone know what I need to change to make wildcard searches work for dropdowns?

I checked the Search Mode. The purpose of any Search Mode is to build the AML query for the server to get the data. We probably need to modify it, but right now it doesn´t even receive the search filter. My wildcarded dropdown search value is simply ignored and not included in the AML query.

It seems to be filtered long before the Search Mode itself kicks in. I assume the wildcarded search string makes the input invalid, so the search filter is excluded from the AML query used for the server.

Does anyone know, which codetree files are used to validate the search strings in the blue search row? I made some tests, but so far I haven´t found the right file.

Can we use filter lists with a predefined static filter?

Hi community,

I want to build 6-7 drop downs with similar content. Each single drop down has around 10 values where 7-8 are more or less identical. "Values" are 80% the same for each list, but the "label" has sometimes a different meaning.

The classic solution would be to build six or seven separate List items. Does anyone know any other approach to solve this task without all the List items?

I wonder if we can somehow use a "filter list" for this task. For Filter List the filter condition is typically another property in the ItemType. But in my case I don´t have a second property. The property itself shall define the static filter. Is it somehow possible to specify a static filter for each single Property by default?

The topic is not important and I guess the answer is probably "nope". But it still an interesting topic for a forum discussion :)

does anyone know a fast way to get the labels of list items in C# and JS?

I am writing a small Jira connection were I transfer the content of a regular Innovator item. The item has a dropdown list. We can get the selected dropdown value quite easily with something like this.getProperty("mylist","");

But in my Jira item I don´t want to display the list value, but the list label. In best case I even want to specify the target language of the label that should be used.

Currently I know two options, but both require too much code for my taste:

1. Make a "get" query against the "Value" table.
2, Get the full list item with all values and labels and than match the current property value with the full list.

First option works fine when we only need to get the label of a single dropdown value. But it would produce a large amount of queries if we have multiple items in a loop.
The second options works better for multiple items, as we only have to get the complete List one time.

But I wonder if there is an inbuilt function to make this all easier to do by default?

Does anyone know more?

AML Script to Check for Two or More Released Revisions of the Same Document Number

We would like to control BOM download permissions. There is a function in Aras to export BOM to Excel or Word as showned in the below screenshot. Can we control this permission so that only permited person can use this menu? Do we need change program codes? If yes, which method should be used to realize this control?

Method for hiding button on a form

Name of the button is cancel_workflow_button

I can do this using the UI making another view where this button is hidden but I want to do this by writing a method.
If someone can get me started on this that would be awesome.

Server Method working when given a GUID, but not when using this

Hello,

When I run this server method from the method itself and use a GUID to get the Item I want to update the method works fine, but when I change it from a GUID to = this; and run it from the Item Type on the server events "OnBeforeUpdate" it crashes the whole server and the server has to be restarted.

Has anyone ever ran into something similar?

Error uploading a document. file name too long.

Hello, we have problems when uploading documents, as we have discovered if the file name is greater than 150 characters, the program enters an infinite loop.

I have looked in the code and in the CORE and I don't see anything anywhere that limits it to 150 characters.

Any suggestions where to look?

How to change the position of a Relationship Accordion tab

I needed to make a tab visible to certain identity. Therefore, I selected "Hide All" in the relationship types and used the CUI control to make a new tab. I need this tab to be all the way to right.

Sort Order fields don't work, neither in the Relationship Type nor in cui_windowSection. Pictures below

How do open a dialog on a specific position or with some kind of offset?

Hi community,

a common task is opening custom dialogs. If we open a custom dialog it´s normally positioned in the middle of the screen.

This is fine for 99% of all use cases. But inside my dialog user can open an additional search dialog to search for target items that shall be added to a table in the main dialog.

Unfortunately the search dialog overlaps the first dialog pretty hard so users can not see the entries they add.

Is it possible to open a dialog at a specific position at the screen? I want to display the dialog in the middle of the screen, but with an offset to give more room to the search dialog.

Even more elegant would be, if the first dialog is moved to a better position as soon user open the 2nd search dialog. But I am not sure if this is possible.

Does any one has an idea? If you know better variants for these kind of designs, please let me know!

Updating from data using c#

Hi, I need help. I'm doing something that should be easy, but no!!!.

I want to schedule an event that when the data is saved, save option, make me a count and update the form. I have created the onAfterUpdate event on the ItemType i tried too onBeforeUpdate and the same.

I have a display (ItemType), with a related table. In this table they choose the vacation days of the year and when saving, I put an event so that it makes the sum of the chosen days and updates the corresponding ItemType attribute.

I have tried it by AML code, but it gives me this error, I suppose that on the server side, it does not allow an edit to be made to a table in edition.

I have also tried it by code passing the values through:

This code was suggested to me by AngelaP and it works perfectly in forms, but it is Javascript and on the client side.

But it also gives an error, it does not recognize "getFieldByName", nor "getElementsByTagName".

We have Version: Aras Innovator Version 11.0 SP9 Build: 6549

Any suggestions?.

Hi community,

does anyone know how to prevent that Aras use labels for the property selector in the QueryBuilder?

I try to extend a Query Definition, but I would prefer if Innovator shows the native database name of the properties instead of the label:

Note following situation in the image:
- Entries are not distinguishable when they have the same label, like "Document"
- Entries are sometimes just blanks where I have removed the label on purpose

Innovator doesn´t even seem to honor my perfect sort_order of these properties. Does anyone have an idea how to improve the situation? I currently use a pretty old QueryBuilder version. Maybe situation has improved in newer Innovator versions, but I have to work with what I have 😀
