Could someone help me add a new tab to the Document Item Type to show all the related ECNs.? I can write the query to fetch the ECNs related to the Document number. But only thing I need is how to add the tab and how to add the table to populate the data.

This sounds like a perfect use case for the Query Builder and Tree Grid View functionality added in 11.0 SP10. The blog post I've linked to goes over these new features at a high-level and the last section shows you can automatically create a new relationship on an ItemType to view the results of your query.
